Butterfly Monitor Training

Thursdays, April 25 & May 2, 5:30-7:00 pm & Field Day Saturday, May 18, 1-4 pm (Rain date June 1)
Fee: Members $20, Non-Members $25

Many of our state's natural resources are being threatened by pollution, invasive species, and climate change; many insects, including butterflies, are excellent indicators of the impacts these threats are having across the landscape. By surveying butterflies throughout our state the Michigan Butterfly Network, along with professional researchers and citizen scientists, can assess how butterfly populations are changing and how the health of their habitats are changing over time. We are seeking butterfly enthusiasts to join us for a 3-part training where you will learn how to conduct a survey, how to identify our state's butterflies, and how to submit scientific data to a national database. Upon completion of this training you will be an official Butterfly Monitor (Citizen Scientist) for the Michigan Butterfly Network and will be able to conduct surveys throughout our beautiful state!
All age levels are welcome, but we recommend children have a keen interest in learning about butterflies and survey methods.

Registration and payment are due by April 23.

Cancellation Policy: For cancellation prior to registration deadline, a $5 processing fee per registrant will be retained by KNC. Between registration deadline and day of program, a 25% processing fee per registrant, with a minimum of $5, will be retained by KNC. No refunds day of event or after.
